My role
Product owner. I built the original prototype and specified the product.
Overview
Special Minds Care is the app that runs the service. Practitioners, supervisors, office staff, families and schools each see the part of a child's progress that is meant for them.
The challenge
Therapy and school support produce a lot of data, and most of it lived in spreadsheets and messages. The team needed goals, session data and progress in one place, with strict rules on who sees what.

What we built
Starting from my own prototype, we built a phone-first platform: child records, goals broken into programmes and targets, live data capture that works offline, session notes drafted from the data, progress graphs, a calendar, reports and invoices.

Goals to targets
Goals break into programmes and targets, with five ways to measure and clear mastery rules.
Capture in the moment
Big tap targets, timers and undo, saved on the device first so patchy classroom Wi-Fi loses nothing.
Notes from the data
Session notes are drafted from what was recorded, then approved or sent back by a supervisor.
Progress you can see
Graphs with mastery and phase lines, and a flag when a target starts slipping.
The right data, the right person
Access rules enforced in the database. Schools see only consented students and no medical details.
Runs the practice
A calendar with pop-up booking, monthly PDF progress reports and invoices with VAT.
This is a private platform, so the screens are an illustrative mock-up with sample data.
